Als ich in der aktuellen Winterausgabe von Knitty das hier gesehen habe, war ich einfach nur hin und weg.

Malabrigo in Hellgrün bestellen und über die Weihnachtsfeiertage auf die Lieferung warten? Keine Zeit, also ab und den Wollvorrat durchsucht. Ausgegraben: Wolle in dunklem Limonengrün – muss passen. Sieht zumindest aus wie etwas, das man der Familie der Zitronengewächse zuordnen kann.

Die Wolle war nicht ganz billig – dafür ist die Farbqualität eher mau. Färbt ab und verleiht meinen Fingern beim Stricken ein zombie-grünes Aussehen. Hm. Nicht gut   .

Nachdem ich 3/4 der Shawlette gestrickt hatte, stellte ich ausserdem fest, dass mir der Faltenwurf ganz und gar nicht gefällt.

Also alles wieder aufgeribbelt und die Wolle für ein anderes Projekt irgendwann wieder dem Woll-Vorrat überantwortet (ich hoffe, das mit dem Abfärben gibt sich nach der 1 . Wäsche).

Also ausnahmsweise die Original-Wolle Malabrigo Lace geordert (hätte ich mal besser gleich gemacht) und neu losgelegt mit insgesamt 3 Änderungen:

• I Cord Rand statt 3 Maschen kraus rechts
• abgekettet mit Häkelkante  (weil ich WUSSTE, dass ich nie im Leben einen wirklich lockeren gestrickten Abkettrand hinbekommen würde. * 1 Häkelmasche, 1 Luftmasche * zwischen den Sternchen wiederholen bis alle Maschen aufgebraucht sind
• 6 Bänder statt 5 weil ich das Gefühl hatte, die Wolle gibt es her – tat sie – gerade mal so eben, 1,5 m sind übrig, das war knapp 

Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob die I Cord die beste Lösung für die Kante war, aber der Häkelabschluss kommt wunderbar. Reichlich rüschig, aber gefällt mir. 90 cm breit, 31 cm tief.

Und das war mein erstes UND LETZTES Projekt mit Lace Garn zu 800 m / 100 gr. Ist zwar ein schöner Effekt aber einfach zu fiddelig um die Arbeit wirklich wert zu sein. In Zukunft nehm ich maximal Sockengarn mit 400 m / 100 gr. Abgesehen natürlich von dem Zeug, das sich schon in meinem Stash befindet natürlich

When I saw this pattern in the new winter edition of Knitty I just had to knit it.

No time to order the Malbrigo yarn in light green (especially as I would have had to wait out the X-mas holidays for delivery), off to the shash instead, searching and found some wool in dark lime green. It would have to do. Seems close enough for the citrus family.

Considering that the yarn was not cheap the quality of the dye is rather bad. It rubs off while knitting and gives  my fingers a zombie-green tinge.  Hm. Not good .

After I had knitted about three quarters of the Shawlette, I noticed that I did not like the drape.

So I ripped the whole thing and put the wool back into the stash for another project sometime in the future (I hope the bleeding of the dye will stop after the first washing).

So I ordered the original Malabrigo Lace from the pattern (would have been better to do that in the first place) and started anew with 3 modifications:

• I cord border instead of 3 stitches in garter stitch
• bound off in crochet (because I KNEW I’d never get it really loose in a knitted bind-off). * crochet into one stitch, chain one * repeat between asterixes until all stitches are gone.
• 6 sections instead of 5 because I had the feeling, there was enough yarn in the skein for that – it was – barely, just about 1.6 yards / 1.5 m left. Whew, that was a close one

I’m not sure if the I cord was the best of ideas but the crochet bind off works wonderfully. Rather very ruffly, but that’s ok with me. 90 cm / 35.4 in wide, 31 cm / 12.2 in deep.

Oh, and that was my fist AND LAST project with such fine lace yarn. It´s just too fiddly to be worth it. So, the finest I’m going to use in the future is sock yarn. Except for the stuff, that’s already in my stash, of course

Also gut – ich bin stur. Nochmal ein Anlauf.

• Phoenix I – versehentlich in der Waschmaschine gefilzt – ein Foto vor diesem beklagenswerten Vorkommnis findet sich 2 Einträge vor diesem unter “Vindolanda”
• Phoenix II – Versuch des Neustrickens 2 x abgebrochen
• Phoenix III – neuer Anlauf in Finkhof Fuchsschafwolle aus dem Woll-Vorrat und mit Nadelstärke 3,25.

Statt Maschenprobe ein Ärmel:

Aus den Erfahrungen von Phönix I hab ich ja gelernt – diesmal mit provisorischem Anschlag. Dann kann ich mir noch eine Ärmelvariante aussuchen und wenn irgendwann die Bündchen wieder durch sind, lässt es sich leicht reparieren.

So, I´m stubborn. Next try.

• Phoenix I – was felted by accident in the washing machine – a picture (before that unfortunate incident) can be found 2 postings earlier under “Vindolanda”
• Phoenix II – attempt to re-knit aborted 2 times
• Phoenix III – new try with Finkhof Fuchsschafwolle from the stash and needles 3,25.

To get gauge, I started a sleeve.

From the experience with the first Phoenix Sweater I learned something. So I started with a provisional cast on. So I don´t have to decide for a sleeve variant right now and when sometimes the cuffs are worn through it will be easier to repair.

Neues Projekt- in neon pinkfarbener Kauni Wolle (aus dem Stash!!); der Truly Tasha´s Shawl (freie Anleitung von Wooly West in Englisch). So einfach wie genial, mit hübscher Lace-Kante. Soweit bin ich derzeit:

Im Original ist die Farbe neon kreisch pink – lässt sich einfach nicht ordentlich fotografieren, nicht mal im Tageslicht. Um die Sache ein bisschen interessanter zu machen (bisher sind´s ja nur endlose Reihe in kraus rechts), strick ich noch Rocailles in Farbe Crystal ein (durchsichtig, mit Blattsilbereinlage).

Got a new project in Kauni, colorway neon pink (and from the stash!!) – the Truly Tasha´s Shawl (it´s a free pattern from Wooly West). As simple as it is great, with a very becoming lace border. The photo shows how far I have got up to now.

In the original, the color is really VERY neon pink – impossible to capture correctly,  not even in daylight. To spice up the knitting a bit (it´s just lots and lots of garter stitch up to now), I´m adding rocailles in “crystal” from colorless glass, with inlay of silver foil.

Mit Lace hab ich mich bisher noch nie angefreundet.

Bei dem Pretty as a Peacock Muster konnte ich allerdings nicht nein sagen. Widerstand war zwecklos.

Es ist einfach nur fantastisch pfauenhaft.

Die Frage nach der Wolle für das Projekt gestaltete sich allerdings etwas schwierig. Die Kauni in Neonpink aus dem Stash kam mir in den Sinn…

Mein Schatz meinte auf meine Frage, in was er sich das Teil denn vorstellen könnte (Bild unter Nase halt), “irgendwas in Blaugrün”, “Pfauen in Pink gibts nicht” und “musst Du Dir halt neue Wolle kaufen, schweres Schicksal ”

Kommentar am Rand (nicht nur dazu aber auch):

• Ja, der ist vergeben, aber sowas von!
• Nein, den geb ich nicht mehr her!!
• Nein, er hat keine Bruder und geklont wird er auch nicht!!!

So ganz war ich nicht überzeugt, dass die Pink Kauni nicht passt (aber vielleicht für die February Lady), aber ein wenig Internet schauen geht immer, dachte ich.

Seide ist ja an sich auch nicht mein Ding – aber hierfür wäre Seidenglanz schon gut.

Das hab ich gefunden bei der Wolllust:

Zephyr Lace 50 % Merino 50 % Seide in Farbe – ich glaubs ja nicht – Pfau/Peacock

Und noch genau 2 Stränge da (also genau die Menge, die ich brauche).

O.k. Ich geb mich geschlagen.

Lace was not a favorite of mine until now.

The Pretty as a Peacock Pattern did me in, however. Resistance was futile.

It just evokes fabulously the impresson of a peacock.

Choosing a yarn for this project was a bit difficult however. I thought about the Kauni in neon pink from the stash…

Hubby-to-be (just a week left) told me after I asked him what he could imagine this project in: “use something blue green”, “there ARE NO pink peacocks” and “well, if there´s nothing in your stash that fits you´ve got to buy some new yarn – life is hard, you know  ”

My comments to this (not only to this but it´s a good occasion for it):

• Yes, I know he´s a Keeper and he´s mine!
• No, I won´t ever let go of him!!
• Sorry folks, he hasn´t got a brother and he won´t be cloned either!!!

I wasn´t really convinced that the Pink Kauni is the wrong choice (but maybe I could use it for the February Lady Sweater). Nevertheless I decided to look around a bit in the www.

Silk usually is not what I choose to work with but for this shawl some silk sheen would be nice I think.

That´s what hit me at the Wolllust:

Zephyr Lace 50 % Merino 50 % Silk in colorway – I can´t believe this – Peacock

And only 2 skeins left – just the amount I need.

O.k. Ich declare myself beaten.
