Scheint, als ob endlich ein Ende des Winters in Sicht ist. Bisher hatten wir jede Menge hiervon:

Garten

Liegestuhl im Scnee

Eiszapfen

und auch mal ein bisschen blauer Himmel

Ab nächster Woche sollen die Temperaturen wenigstens über 0 Grad steigen. Dann gibts hoffentlich statt Schneemassen und grauem Himmel mehr blauen Himmel und Schneeglöckchen.

Seems, the end of winter is near. Up to now there was a lot of snow – on the trees, in the garden, plus snowed-in deck chairs, icicles and, occasionally, a bit of blue sky. Starting with next week, the weather forecast says, temperatures will rise above 0 degrees C / 32 degrees F. Hopefully, instead of masses of snow and grey skies there will be more blue skies and snowdrops at last.

Immerhin hat es die letzten Tage etwas getaut. Die nächsten Tage soll es wieder kälter werden (aber immerhin nicht schneien).

Die ***** Meeresrauschen CD ist aber immer noch nicht aufgetaucht. Vielleicht hätte ich intensiver suchen sollen.

Um nicht völlig in die Winter-Depri abzugleiten, hier ein bisschen Erinnerung, dass es wieder besser (wärmer) werden wird:

During the last few days some snow thawed. The next days it´s supposed to freeze again but  at least no snow is predicted.

The *****  CD with the surf sounds still didn´t turn up. Maybe I should have searched for it more thoroughly.

To counter the winter depression a bit, above some reminders that there will be better (warmer) times ahead.

So langsam krieg ich einen…wie jedes Jahr um diese Zeit, aber diesmal ist es wegen dieser sch***langen Frost- und Schneeperiode noch schlimmer als sonst finde ich.

Wochenlang nur Schnee, kalt, dunkel, Dauerfrost und keine Aussicht auf Besserung lt. Wetterbericht, zumindest nicht in den nächsten zwei Wochen. Wenn´s zwischendrin mal bisschen blauen Himmel gäbe würde ich ja gar nichts sagen (na gut, zumindest nicht viel) , aber zu allem noch dieses dauernde Wintergrau, ne, es reicht so langsam.Wie meistens im Januar… Da hilft die jährliche Hyazinthenzwiebel (diesmal in schönem weiss) auch nicht mehr viel.

Ich geh jetzt einen Kaffee trinken unter Palmen im Nebenzimmer (hat sich doch gelohnt, die Fototapete wieder runterzukratzen und neu zu kleben. Und wo versteckt sich meine Meeresrauschen CD??!

It´s catching up with me… like every year at this time. This time it feels even worse than usual because of the frost and snow we had here for the last weeks in godless amounts.

Snow, cold, dark seemingly without end and no hope from the weather forecast it will get better any time soon (at least not for the coming two weeks – yeek) . If there would be a bit of blue sky in between I wouldn´t complain (at least not that much) but on top of everything else this continuing winter grey, no, I´m really fed up by now. Like most Januarys. The hyacinth bulb I get every year (this year the flower is a beautiful white) is not much good either.

I think I´ll have coffee at the palm beach right in the next room (picture above)    . It was a good idea after all to rip off the fist photo wallpaper which did not adhere to the wall properly and try all over agin with a second. Crazy work – but worth it! And where did I put that CD with the surf sounds??!

So, dies ist also nun Silvester 2009/2010.

Dieses Jahr war auf persönlich/gesundheitlicher Basis ziemlich… bescheiden, zumindest die 2. Hälfte Nein, keine Details.

2010 sollte hoffentlich besser werden. Zum Glück dürfte das nicht allzu schwer sein bei der Vorgabe.

Während ich auf Mitternacht und 2010 warte, hier ein wenig Astronomie für heute:

Zu diesem Silvester gibts eine besondere Konstellation – den 2. Vollmond in einem Monat; Blue Moon genannt, was alle 2,4 Jahre vorkommt (2. und 31.12.2009) und Vollmond an Silvester ist alle 19 Jahre. Berechnen lässt sich das mit der Methode des kleinsten gemeinsamen Nenners oder so ähnlich:

365,25               x                19                     =                     29,54                x                235

Tage pro Jahr multipliziert mit Jahren entspricht Tage pro Mondmonat multipliziert mit den Vollmonden in 19 Jahren

Dieser Effekt sorgt übrigens auch dafür, dass am 19., 38., 57. etc. Geburtstag immer die gleiche Mondphase hat, wie zur eigenen Geburt. Was immer diese Information Euch bedeutet, vielleicht auch gar nichts.

• Normalerweise hab ich mit solchem neblig-feucht-kühlen Wetter wie heute keinerlei Probleme -  allerdings frag ich mich schon, ob Silvester Party am Strand bei netten 20 Grad Celsius nicht auch mal nett wäre
• Feuerwerk geb´s diesmal nicht soviel wie in den Vorjahren, was da war, war eher bunte Raketen, kaum Böller
• Ein Teil unserer Batterien war ziemlich lustig – eine Folge kleiner bunter Feuerkugeln, sah aus wie kleine Drachen mit Schluckauf
• Und wie Yarn Harlot so richtig bemerkte: “Everything will be all right in the end. If it´s not all right, it´s not the end!”

This year was – on a personal and health view – really bad. At least the 2nd half. No details, it was that bad.

2010 has to be better. Luckily, this should be rather easy in comparison.

While waiting for midnight and 2010 to arrive, here´s some astronomy for today:

This New Year´s Eve, there is a special moon constellation a 2nd Full Moon in one month, called a Blue Moon. This happens roundabout every 2.4 years (2nd and 31st Dec. 2009) and Full Moon at New Year´s Eve will only happen every 19 years. Exact calculations can be made with the method of least common denominator or something like that:

365,25               x                19                     =                     29,54                x                235

Days per year multiplied by years equals roundabout days in a lunar month multiplied by number of full moons in 19 years

This effect also means that the moon phase on one´s 19., 38., 57. etc. birthday will always be on the same moon phase as one´s birth. Whatever this may mean to you, maybe nothing.

• Normally I don´t have any problems with our usual foggy-moist-cool weather. Admittedly, I wonder if the Australian´s don´t have it better. A New Year´s Eve´s party at the beach with comfortable 20 degrees Celsius / 68 degrees Fahrenheit sounds like a nice change in the surroundings
• There was not as much fireworks as in the previous years. Mostly colorful fireworks display, rather few firecrackers.
  
• Some of ours were rather funny – a series of little gaudy fire balls, looked like small Dragons with a hiccup
• And as Yarn Harlot noticed so wisely: “Everything will be all right in the end. If it´s not all right, it´s not the end!”

Witz für Strickerinnen: trifft Novelty Fransengarn auf kitschige Weihnachten…

heraus kommt: ein gestrickter Weihnachtsbaum (Anleitung nur auf englisch aber allein das Bild lohnt anschauen *lol*)

Ich hab da auch noch (wohl in einem Anfall von Wahnsinn gekauft) mehrere Knäuel Brazilia Lame in Gold rum liegen… Auf Ravelry hat jemand eine Weihnachtsbaumgirlande aus eben diesem Garn gestrickt – so genial wie einfach aus I-Cord. Was E.Z. wohl dazu gesagt hätte… (erstens zum Garn selbst und zweitens zu der Idee es so zu verwenden)     .
