Und da isses wieder, das jährliche, deprimierende, graue Winterloch. Der Wetterbericht prognostiziert eine weitere Woche grauen Nieselregen . Immerhin ging das Schnee und Eis Chaos der letzten beiden Jahre diesmal an uns vorbei.

And there it is again, the yearly, depressing grey mind hole of winter. The weather forecast predicts another week of grey drizzly rain . At least the snow and ice chaos of the previous two winters passed us by this time.

And as long as there is nothing interesting to see outside, the cows will fly indoors. Proof, pictures of cows with wings. Kisses to you!

Manchmal sind Werbegags ja richtig süss. Dieses Silvester gibt es Wunschraketen – jawohl, Wünsche auf die Rakete schreiben und ab nach oben damit, wo sie hingehören auf dass sie erfüllt werden .

Sometimes marketing is really cute. This New  Year`s Eve you can buy fireworks which are provided with an empty box.  Write your wishes there and send them up to where they belong so that they can be fulfilled

Handgeschmiedete Stricknadeln in Bronze, Silber oder Gold. Unglaublich. Hier bei Celtic Swan in USA erhältlich. Im übrigen auch Stopfnadeln und Fibeln/Broschen etc. für diejenigen, die lieber nicht mit Nadelspiel stricken und deswegen keine Verwendung dafür haben.

Ich hab mir dann welche in Bronze geleistet und es strickt sich wirklich unglaublich gut damit. Das Metall erwärmt sich in Nullkommanix auf Handtemperatur. Aber ich steh ja auch auf Metall-Nadeln. Und in den dünnen Sockenstärken fällt das höhere Gewicht ggü. Alu oder Holz auch nicht wirklich auf.

Und damit die Nadeln – wenn nicht in Gebrauch – auch einen schönen Platz zum drin Wohnen haben, noch schnell diesen Monat ein Projekt eingeschoben, damit im Januar auf der Strickprojektseite auch was zum Zeigen da ist.: die sea, sand & sky Nadelrolle zur Aufbewahrung von dpns, wie Strumpfstricknadeln im neudeutsch der Strickerinnen heissen (spricht sich doch viel flüssiger aus als Strumpfstricknadelspiel oder auch double pointed needles). Der Name kommt übrigens von den verwendeten Farben – Meerblau, Sand und Himmelblau.

Und: Wolldiät – gestrickt mit Lopi aus dem Wollvorrat , gefilzt bei 40 C in der Waschmaschine, geschrumpft 7 – 11 %

Handmade knitting needles in bronze, silver or gold. Unbelievable. You can obtain them here at Celtic Swan in USA. For those who do not like using dpns and have therefore no use of those, you can get needles and shawl brooches there as well.

I treated myself to some in bronze and they are really fine to work with. The metal warms up to the temperature of your hands in no time! But I am a fan of metal dpns anyway and in the small sock sizes the higher weight in comparison to wood or aluminium needles is not really noticable.

I wanted some nice place for the needles to be stored when they are not in use. So I whipped up this project which has the additional advantage that something will be visible on the January part of my show off knitting page.  My sea, sand & sky Needle Case Roll to store dpns. The name stems from the colors used: sea blue, sandy off white and sky blue.

The pictures are as wip; finished, fulled and filled; rolled up and from the side – some eye candy IMO. And: this was knitting from stash with some Lopi already lingering there. Felted at 40 C / 104 F in the washing machine, shrinkage was about 7 – 11 %.

Ich hoffe, die Pins lassen sich durch die harmlosen Pink-Girly-Schuhe täuschen und erschrecken sich ausreichend, wenn der Ball vorbeikommt, dass sie freiwillig aus der Bahn hüpfen.

Wenn ich endlich diese miese Erkältung los bin, werde ich es demnächst in der Boa Bowling Arena Troisdorf Spich testen und berichten.

New year, new sport – Bowling – strike!

And while I am at it, the correct equipment. Bowling shoes with light pink color accents.

Complete with the “fitting” ball, the Dragon`s Eye with custom drilled  holes for me. I hope the pins will be fooled by the harmless looking pink girly shoes and be sufficiently frightened when the dragon`s eye comes along so that they hop out of the lane voluntarily. Will try as soon as I am rid of this mean cold and report back here.

Also das ist 2011 – um es mit dem alten Garfield zu sagen: Fühlt sich genauso an wie das alte.

Zumindest fängt es mit Rosen an Fair Trade Rosen von meinem Schatz

So this is the year 2011 – to quote old Garfield: Feels the same as the last one.

At least, it started with roses – Fair Trade Roses by courtsey of my husband

So I hope, 2011 will have lots of rosy moments and that I will be able to elegantly bypass the thorns. Would be appropriate after all the bad stuff happening during the last two years.
